What's the damage?

As a fleet operator, when you learn that one of your vehicles has suffered some form of damage to the bodywork, you first concern will be-

MAJOR DAMAGE? - this will involve

•Time off the road
•Major inconvenience
•Be very costly

But what about cosmetic damage? You know what I mean - those small to medium sized annoying repairs. Not to mention alloy wheel damage. All of which still has to be rectified because if the vehicle is leased, then the dreaded 'de-Fleet charges' apply. Even if it is your own vehicle the damage may not warrant a claim on your insurance. The vehicle will start to look shabby and when it is time for replacement, the value of the vehicle will be lower.

Just take a few moments to read the following excerpt from an article which appeared on the front page of Fleet News.

Fleet Operators Slate Body shops

“Car repair standards are unacceptable and standards are getting worse, members of the North East and Tyne Tees region of fleet operators' association ACFO have claimed”

“One fleet manager said, "The length of time it takes to do the repair is also not acceptable. I have one vehicle that was off the road for repairs for a long time because the body shop couldn't fit the work in, but was chosen because it charged the insurer £5 an hour less for labour.”
